About Slade in Highguard
Slade is a pyromaniac warrior who wields the destructive power of flame. A former demolitions expert, he turned to Highguard battles after discovering his affinity for fire manipulation. While he lacks the raw killing power of other assault wardens, his area denial and structure damage make him a unique tactical choice.
Slade is a zone-control assault warden in Highguard. Unlike Atticus or Scarlet who focus on eliminations, Slade excels at forcing enemies out of positions and damaging structures. His fire abilities create persistent danger zones that enemies must respect. He's best played as a support-damage hybrid who enables his team's plays.
Abilities
Firebomb
Explodes and spreads magma to an area on melee attacks. Creates dangerous zones that enemies must avoid.
Heatwave
Sends out a cascading wave of molten fire that travels along the ground. Damages enemies and structures in its path.
Firestorm
Rains down fire upon the targeted area, dealing massive damage over time. Forces enemies out of fortified positions.

Heatwave is great for clearing defensive structures during raids

Slade Phase-by-Phase Guide
Learn how to play Slade effectively in every phase of a Highguard match. Each phase requires different strategies to maximize Slade's potential.
Defense Phase
Slade helps build walls like any warden. His abilities don't contribute much to defense setup, so focus on efficient building and planning your fire zones for the raid phase.
Gear Up Phase
Loot normally and prioritize medium-to-long range weapons that complement your fire abilities. Slade doesn't excel in direct 1v1s, so avoid early fights unless you have teammates nearby.
Shieldbreaker Phase
Firestorm can zone enemies away from the Shieldbreaker sword, but it's less impactful than other ultimates. Use Heatwave to damage enemies during the chaos and support your team's push for the sword.
Raid Phase
Slade's fire abilities shine during raids. Heatwave damages structures and forces defenders to reposition. Firestorm denies areas around the generator, making it dangerous for enemies to contest. You're better at structure damage than player kills.
